FREE Cinematic Piano by Heavyocity

A Free cinematic Piano virtual instrument interface
Free Cinematic Piano

This week, Heavyocity announced the release of a free cinematic piano. The piano is the first instrument from Heavyocity’s ‘Foundations’ range and works with the free Kontakt Player. In this video, I give the new instrument a full test and demonstration.

Heavyocity Foundations – Free Cinematic Piano Demo

Heavyocity Foundations Piano

If you are familiar with Heavyocity you’ll know they offer a fantastic range of high quality orchestral, cinematic and hybrid instruments.

Personally, I love their range of percussion instruments and own the epic ‘Ensemble Drums’ collection.

The Foundations Piano didn’t disappoint me. The interface allows you to blend the soft dynamics of a grand piano with an expertly crafted sound design layer.

The instrument is highly customisable although the presets provide a great starting point. For producers and composers, the Foundations engine features a wide palette of sound-shaping capabilities, including ARP, Gate, Space, and ADSR.

Get creative and tweak parameters such as reverb, delay, amp envelope and arpeggiator. In addition, the ‘Punch’ control dials in a combination of compression and saturation.

The results are absolutely stunning and left me exclaiming: I can’t believe this is free!!

But don’t take my word for it. Watch the video and hear for yourself.

Downloading and Installation

Installation was fairly easy although there was an extra step I wasn’t expecting.

If you want to download the Foundations piano you’ll first need to register for an account on the Heavyocity website.

You’ll also need to have a Native Instruments account and download the free Kontakt Player.

You can then download the instrument through the Heavocity Download portal. You’ll also need to copy and paste the serial number to the Native Access app so that you can see the piano in your Native Instruments library.

Go check out this fantastic free cinematic piano and, like me, I’m sure it will inspire you to write some beautiful cinematic compositions!
